Altit Fort

Dating back over 900 years, Altit Fort is the oldest standing monument in Gilgit-Baltistan and served as the hereditary seat of the local rulers of Hunza. Tourists can marvel at its remarkable defensive architecture, intricately carved wooden ceilings, and the surrounding historic shigar-style settlement. The best time to visit is during spring when the fort gardens bloom with fragrant cherry blossoms and apricots.
